9.11 in 2008

According to the New York Post, Hillary Clinton released a "darkly emotional" television add this week.

The add, aimed to raise support for her health care plan, show scenes of her at ground zero after 9/11 and criticizes Rudy Gulliani's handling of the situation, in regards to injured workers.

From the NY Daily News:

"She stood by Ground Zero workers who sacrificed their health after so many sacrificed their lives," the script says, with a stark photo of Clinton wearing a mask near the wreckage of the twin towers.

While the video does not say Guliani's name, it is clear that the add does not look kindly upon the former NYC mayor, who has come under critisizm by many for not doing more to help workers.

According to Anorak, President Bush was criticized during the 2004 election for using 9.11 images in his campaign.

Hmph, that's interesting. I didn't know that Hillary was criticizing Guiliani's 9-11 work.

And considering that Guiliani is running on the 9-11 ticket, it's quite possible that it might have an effect.

That said, I don't like negative campaigns. Even if they don't directly say anything negative about an opposing candidate, I still think it's rather rude. I don't like voting for people who run negative campaigns.

Still, I'd listen to what they had to say. I'm glad Clinton stood next to the victims of 9-11 and the workers who did suffer greatly. But what does that have to do with her abilities to plan ahead for the future of this country? And what does that have to do with her healthcare, social security, or environmental plan?
Should I merely vote for her because she stood on the sidelines and watched workers dig through the site with a mask on her face?

That might sound mean...but I would rather have her cricize Guiliani's policies during his time as Mayor of NYC than watch her appeal to emotions based on 9-11.

(I think the topic of 9-11 is taboo for political candidates. It's too emotional, and has so many aspects. That's probably why Bush was criticized for it. Clinton might too. Just a theory)
